How does message segmentation affect cost?
Under GSM-7 encoding, a single SMS holds up to 160 characters and multipart messages use 153 characters per segment. Each segment per recipient uses one SMS unit. Prepaid units cost ₦6.50 up to 10,000 units, or ₦6.30 for the entire purchase above 10,000 units.
What happens when I include emojis or special characters?
Characters outside standard GSM-7 (like emojis or special symbols) automatically trigger UCS-2 Unicode encoding. In UCS-2, a single message holds up to 70 characters (multipart segments hold 67 characters). The calculator automatically detects and informs you of your message encoding.
Can I personalize messages with customer names?
Yes! You can use dynamic merge tags such as [Name] or [OrderNumber]. Keep in mind that longer recipient names may cause individual messages to span into an extra segment, slightly adjusting final credit consumption.
How does BZTel handle DND (Do Not Disturb) numbers in Nigeria?
DND restrictions can affect message delivery. Contact support to confirm the appropriate route for your use case; delivery to DND numbers is not guaranteed.
